Client Preparation
What to Expect
The refinishing or installation of hardwood floors requires a certain level of commitment and responsibility on the client’s part. As with any other home improvement project or update, some inconvenience should be expected.
Prior to Installation
· All furniture, wall hangings, appliances and clothing/personal items from closets (if applicable) must be cleared in work area (Mile High Dustless assumes no liability for personal property left in the work area. If the area is not properly prepared, Mile High Dustless may reschedule the job)
· Hardwood must be acclimated for 5-10 days prior to installation (normal room temperature, not in basements, sheds or garages)
During the Installation
· Duration of the project depends on the size of the project. Time frame will be supplied during the quote process
· Noise, vibrations, vapors and light dust should be expected. Our Bona dust containment equipment ensures up to 98% of dust removal during the installation/sanding process. Only Bona water based/non toxic finishes are used. Equipment and finishes are GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Approved
Post-Installation
· A light dusting will be required and a changing of your furnace filter is suggested
· You may walk on the floors after 2-3 hours in stocking feet
· Shoes are ok after 24 hours
· Furniture and pets after 48 hours
· We suggest waiting up to 5 days for area rugs due to possible trapping of moisture
· Light touch-up may be required to base moldings and walls
Care
· Sweep or vacuum floor as often as possible, gravel and grit are very destructive on hardwood floors. Visit http://bona.com/en/US/Consumers/Floor_Care/Floor_Care_-_3_Easy_Steps/ for more information on care and cleaning products
· Clean spills immediately (spills can soften finishes and buckle flooring)
· Never use Swifter, Murphy’s oil, or Pledge, we recommend Bona’s waterborne care products
· Seasonal cracking in wood is common because hardwood floors are sensitive to climate. To minimize cracking a humidifier can be used to keep the relative humidity in your home between 30% and 50%.
